We Came, We SAWS, We Conquered

Our project uses data from SAWS regarding sanitary sewer overflow – or SSO – events combined with NOAA weather data in order to predict the root causes of these events. We go beyond this however, and create a system that can be implemented by SAWS to efficiently prioritize maintenance of the city’s sewers to minimize possible future events, making sure our city stays safe and clean.

Preserving San Antonio’s environment is critical as our city continues to develop. Allosense merged 3rd-party satellite imagery data with COSA, Bexar County, VIA, CPS Energy, and SAWS to show how events such as COVID impacted the City’s water, electricity use, policies, and air quality. The team provides its report in electronic and physical forms along with tools for merging datasets for time-based analysis.
