CivTechSA and SmartSA partners teamed up to share datasets with the public in order to connect communities, ideas, and data to improve the quality of life today as we build a smarter tomorrow.

CivTechSA and Codeup engaged with coders, designers, and tech experts in the area to build products to improve the quality of life for our active-duty military members, veterans, and their spouses.

Techstars

Smart Cities Startup Weekend welcomed ideas that focus on equity, sustainability, improving lines of communication to solve local challenges or companies that benefit the local community by helping participants form their ideas into pitch-ready businesses.

CivTechSA partnered with The Entrepreneurial World to present students with an opportunity to solve civic challenges in their community by working in teams to research, build, and pitch their solutions. Through the amazing mentorship from Washington Navarro of The Entrepreneurial World, five teams developed and pitched their solutions to city officials and local tech leaders. Ideas pitched ranged from industries trading reusable waste, to a sustainable mobile food truck.

Residency Summary

Year 1

Reckon Point – Mapped out 65,000 sq. ft. of the Airport facility with its Li-Dar-mapping robot, intake the LiDAR maps, and began development on an indoor navigation application across Android and iOS operating systems.

 

Kinetech Cloud – Built an online application and management tool to reduce the intake of paper/mail-in applications and increase the ability for DHS to review and approve Utility Assistance applications from residents.

Year 2

Outreach Grid – Created a “universal platform” for the Department of Human Services (DHS) and other homelessness organizations to track encampments.

 

Rise Civic Consulting – Developed a “one-stop-shop” approach that provides a single portal of entry for residents, developers, and city leaders alike to connect and locate available affordable housing.

Year 3

Redsquared – Provided a unified interface by which citizens of San Antonio can interact with various city services for requests, payments, and more.

 

Rubicon – Created a cutting-edge technology solution that reduces the amount of contamination that enters the recycling stream to cut operating expenses and improve collection processes for the City of San Antonio.

Year 4

Tempugo – Worked with San Antonio Public Works to try to help sustain businesses impacted by construction with a platform to improve communication between the city, local businesses, and their customers.
