26 Apr Upcoming CivTechSA Ideathon Competition
We’ve worked diligently with the City of San Antonio’s Information Technology Systems Department (ITSD) and the Office of Innovation for our first-ever college/university Ideathon Competition!
The event will happen May 18th-19th at the Geekdom Event Center. The top prize is a paid internship with ITSD and the chance to turn the winning idea into a reality.
ITSD will present 10 department challenges to 40 college/university students from across San Antonio to come up with innovative and achievable ideas on how to solve them. The students will break out into teams of 4, and each team will be paired with a dedicated ITSD Mentor. This means the students will have access to critical insight in order to generate achievable and creative ideas.
We collaborated with ITSD on this Ideathon because the department is the backbone of the City of San Antonio’s infrastructure. The City website, numerous services–both internal and external, are deployed and managed through the City’s IT department. This means that all of the challenges that will be presented have a wide range of impact across City departments and are not just “one-off” solutions.
Additionally, this is the heart of Civic and Gov Tech initiatives where residents, such as our talented and capable college/university students, can directly apply their creativity and expertise in order to improve our community.
Who Can Participate?
This is open to all college/university students in San Antonio with a passion for technology, business, and entrepreneurship!
Registration opens April 30th and closes May 11th. It’s first-come-first-serve registration, and we’re only accepting up to 40 students to participate.
